Manufacturing data collaboration
Help capture how manufacturing actually works.
Run a shop, design parts or inspect production work? We are looking for companies and practitioners willing to discuss sharing permissioned examples of real engineering and manufacturing workflows.
ARIA is developing this collaboration effort. No ready-made dataset, capture deployment or model-training result is offered here.
What we want to learn
The decisions behind the finished part.
A finished part shows the outcome. We want to understand the requirements, setup choices, checks and corrections that got it there.
Engineering and planning
Design reasoning, revisions, process plans, setup decisions and approved examples of CAD/CAM workflows.
Machining and setup
Host-approved video of workholding, tool setup, machining sequences and operator decisions, with context about what is happening.
Assembly and inspection
Approved assembly demonstrations, inspection steps and records that connect a check to its requirement and result.
Corrections and exceptions
Rejected approaches, rework and troubleshooting examples that you have permission to share. The reason for a change can matter as much as the successful sequence.
These are candidate collaboration topics. Please describe available material first; do not send customer files, drawings, CNC programs or raw recordings yet.
For shops and engineering teams
Start with an example you can discuss.
Tell us which process you know, what material you could potentially share and what permissions would need to be resolved.
Describe the workflow
Send a nonconfidential summary, the kinds of records or recordings available, and your role in authorizing access.
Agree the scope
Before receiving material, agree the purpose, people involved, access, storage, retention, credits and permitted uses.
Review a limited example
If suitable and agreed, begin with a small cleared example and confirm the process explanation with a practitioner.
Decide the next step
Discuss whether a larger collaboration is useful. Participation, compensation and any further obligations require separate agreement.
The button opens a draft in your email app; nothing is sent automatically. No upload is required.
Proposed working approach
Context, permission and a reviewable record.
We will agree how each of these applies before a collection begins. This describes the intended process, not a completed data pipeline.
Traceable source
Record who supplied an example, who may authorize its use, when it was captured and which process it represents. Do not include copied or third-party material without the required permission.
Practitioner context
Document the steps, relevant assumptions, observed outcome and unresolved questions with someone who understands the work. Keep observations separate from inferred explanations.
Version and limitations
Keep revisions and review status with each approved example. Record missing context and whether a result was observed, reported or still uncertain.
Permissions and information handling
Choose the use before sharing the material.
A shop interview, private engineering research and model training are different uses. Permission for one does not authorize the others.
Site and participant approval
Recording requires permission from the site and the people involved. Agree filming areas, excluded subjects and any review before publication.
Customer and company rights
Share only material you are authorized to provide. Do not send confidential, export-controlled, classified or customer-restricted information through this site or the initial email.
Explicit intended use
Agree any publication, model training, external service processing or third-party sharing before it occurs. An introductory email grants no license to your technical material.
Company and participant names will not be used in public credits or partnership claims without permission. Data-transfer arrangements and any confidentiality agreement must be settled before technical files are exchanged.
For research and data teams
What does your system need to understand?
Describe the task, failure cases, data types, evaluation approach and approximate scale or timeline. We will discuss fit and feasibility before any commitment to collect or supply data.
ARIA does not currently advertise a catalog, delivery capacity or benchmark results for this effort.
Questions before we begin
Do I need to upload files?
No. Begin with a description. We will agree a suitable transfer route before receiving files or footage.
Can we start with a shop visit?
Yes, we can discuss an interview or demonstration first. Filming and publication boundaries must be agreed with the host and participants.
Will you pay for data?
No standard compensation offer is in place. Any payment, licensing or ownership terms would be discussed and agreed for the specific collaboration.
